Peters Surgical Absorbable Sutures Sutures

The major advantage of absorbable sutures is the absence of foreign bodies in living tissue after a few months, without any additional intervention.

Technically, absorbable sutures must have sufficient strength to hold the wound until the tissue has healed sufficiently. Then the absorbable sutures will lose all of their strength and be eliminated by the body’s metabolism or their knot falls outside the body (if it is surface use).

Peters Surgical Non-Absorbable Sutures Sutures

Non-absorbable sutures are used in a wide variety of surgical procedures and are therefore implanted in different types of tissues at different locations in the body.

Composed of a variety of non-biodegradable materials (natural fibers or synthetic fibers), non-absorbable sutures are indicated for general tissue approximation and/or ligation and also in different surgery types depending on the suture range. They can also be used in cases where the patient has a history of allergic reactions to absorbable sutures or to the fixation of prostheses (for example, defibrillators, prosthetic valves, reinforcement implants, etc.).

Non-absorbable sutures are not digested by the body’s enzymes or hydrolyzed in body tissues. They are ultimately encapsulated or walled off by the body’s fibroblasts.

Historically recognized for its cardiovascular sutures, Peters Surgical now offers a wide range of non-absorbable sutures depending on the surgical use for valve procedures, wound closure and anastomosis, general surgery, ophthalmology and sternum closure.

Peters Surgical Barbed Sutures Sutures

Peters Surgical offers a range of Darvin Loc Barbed Sutures with a Self-locking System for use in various surgical procedures requiring a continuous suture technique. These sutures are designed to eliminate the need for knot tying or passing through loops to fix the thread at the beginning of the suturing process.

How are made the Barbed Sutures. The Darvin Loc Barbed Sutures range is available in different materials, including absorbable and non-absorbable options, with a wide range of designs such as unidirectional with a Final Lock System or a unidirectional loop suture, and double-armed two-way with or without a Center Marker.

Barbed Sutures Main advantage. Suturing with Darvin Loc is characterized by a significantly higher number of fixation points, which is designed to even tension control and to improve adaptation to the wound edges. This could be especially useful for laparoscopic operations, where knotting and suturing can be challenging and time-consuming.

Peters Surgical Needles Sutures

Key factors in the surgical needle basic design include the quality of its alloy, surface coating, and needle geometry. While the needle alloy defines needle bending strength and ductility, the silicon coating maintains the sharpness and consistency of needle penetration. The design of needle tips is also based on the type of tissue where they will be used.

Peters Surgical needles are made from 300 series austenitic stainless steel, providing better bending resistance and ductility compared to 400 series alloy needles available on the market. Our needles come in multiple configurations to meet the specific needs of your procedure.

Peters Surgical Titanium Clips Clips

Our clips are designed and manufactured in France, and are made 100% in titanium. They are available on 2 differents cartridge sizes (clips “SLS”- 6 clips and “Clips 9”- 9 clips): a solution that is adapted to the specific needs of each surgeon and procedure. Our packaging options (6, 9, 24 or 27 clips) meet the needs of surgeons while also reducing waste and costs per procedure.

Peters Surgical Clips Applicators Clips

Over 20 applicators and 7 clip sizes are included in the Peters Surgical range, making it one of the most extensive clip ranges available on the market.

Peters Surgical Flexible clamps Clamps

Cygnet® clamps capture the world of multiuse and aortic cross clamping. The rigid shaft is designed to enable tunneling and accurate clamp placement. Once properly positioned, the rigid shaft retracts leaving a flexible neck, which can be maneuvered to a location remote of the surgical procedure.

Peters Surgical Ifabond® Surgical Glue Glue

Ifabond® is a synthetic surgical glue made from n-hexyl cyanoacrylate monomers (98% pure) for mesh fixation, tissue fixation and hemostasis. Its polymerization occurs in contact with body fluids (whitening effect and fixation within 30s) with a very limited temperature increase (max. 2 °C). It can be used in many surgeries and helps to improve the quality of care delivered to the patient:

  • Atraumatic glue, designed to prevent any transfixion during the mesh fixation
  • Resorption: partial from 3 to 6 months, total from 6 to 12 months
  • Flexible glue after its polymerization (N-Hexyl) absorbing potential stress
  • Slow degradation without emission of toxic products

Peters Surgical Purefill® Embolizing Agent Glue

Purefill® Embolizing Agent has low viscosity, translucent, sterile, liquid embolization implant composed of n-hexyl cyanoacrylate monomers. Suitable for embolization of arteriovenous malformations.

Rapid polymerization when the liquid embolizing agent comes into contact with tissue or moist environments (blood/water).

Low adhesion to the distal part of the catheter during catheter removal.

Resorba PGA Resorba® Sutures

PGA RESORBA® is a polymer of glycolic acid. The linear, high molecular weight polyglycolic acid is synthesised in the presence of a catalyst via the intermediary product glycolide, a cyclic ester.

The breakdown of the PGA suture in the tissue occurs through water uptake, thereby reversing the synthesis. Regular metabolic processes break down the glycolic acid monomers into CO2 and H2O through enzymatic degradation. The physical and physiological properties of suture material containing 10% lactide as copolymer differ only slightly from pure PGA sutures.

The thin, precision-braided filaments provide very high tear resistance as well as excellent suppleness. The special coating thinly encapsulates the fibre bundles resulting in a specific reduction of surface friction. Absorbable sutures approximate the tissue during the healing phase; at the same time, they increasingly lose their tensile strength and tear resistance.

PGA RESORBA® contains precisionbraided filaments made of polyglycolic acid that result in a standardised, moderate rate of absorption in the tissue. Depending on the thread diameter 50 % of the original tensile strength of PGA RESORBA® is lost after 18 days. Violet PGA RESORBA® is coloured with a physiologically harmless dye.

    Properties:
  • high tear resistance
  • good handling
  • excellent knot security
  • atraumatic tissue passage
  • minimal tissue reaction
Resorba Resolon® Sutures

RESOLON® is exceptionally soft and supple even when dry and sterile. As a result, it has excellent handling and knotting properties for a monofilament suture, while ensuring maximum knot tear resistance.

    Properties:
  • above-average softness and suppleness
  • very easy handling and knotting properties
  • no capillarity
  • excellent tissue passage
